Creepy Clowns Invade Main Street, Germantown
As sure as the leaves fall and the days get darker, a flock of clowns descends on Germantown each year in mid-October. Settling around an otherwise innocuous looking neat frame house on Main Street, they appear suddenly and disappear right after All Souls eve.
From a distance, their bright joyful colors lure the unawares. It is not until one gets closer that some of their fun and games might not be to everyone's taste.
While indulging in all manner of killer clown fantasies imaginable, these clowns are non-discriminating and inclusive by nature, happy to have other Halloween characters join in the fun.
Black cats, fortune tellers, zombies and witches, join in the fun.
Even a disabled ghoul makes his appearance.
The annual festival of frights is the brainchild of Germantown resident and local teacher Edy Valez, who began the tradition back in 1981 adding to the spectacle bit by bit each year.
The display is now so huge it spills over into her neighbors’ yards to the east and the West.
In this rancorous election season, it is well worth the trip to Germantown to be reminded what a true “Basket of Deplorables” really looks like! And fear not, because no matter how ferocious or dangerous this group looks, they shy away from people, and stick to mutilating their own.
There is no official record of them touching any human (yet, that is!)
